A Watsonia father has contacted the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to nominate his 3-year-old son for an Oscar following a particularly impressive performance after shampoo got in the toddler’s eyes during bath time last night. The Academy accepted the nomination and said it would review the accompanying footage before making any decisions.
The father, who asked to remain nameless, was thoroughly impressed by the wide ranging performance. He told The Watsonia Bugle, “it was incredible. I sat in awe of DiCaprio during The Revenant, but my little fella’s performance last night was on another level. It had depth, it had layers, it had emotion. It looked like he went deep within himself to portray the raft of emotions produced by the traumatic experience of having a bit of shampoo in your eyelids.”
Insiders say the Academy has never accepted anything not featured in an actual movie, but the father believes his footage is so compelling it may change that. He said, “I’ve never seen anything like it mate. I’m going shopping tomorrow for a mini tuxedo for the little fella just in case.”
