A Watsonia dad, Jason Reynolds, has spent the last three weeks carefully studying YouTube for impressive acting examples as he prepares for disappointment upon opening his Fathers Day present this weekend. Reynolds, the father of three young children, has studied all the acting luminaries of his generation – including De Niro, Pacino, Streep and Spears – to see how they best hide their true feelings when in front of an audience.

Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Reynolds said, “I’ve really immersed myself in the masters in the last few weeks. In the last few years I’ve put in some ordinary performances on Fathers Day, just simply unable to hide my disappointment at a poorly painted photo frame, structurally unsound pottery, and yet another pair of bloody socks. The missus has really put it on me in the lead up to this year, telling me that the kids watch really closely to see what my reaction will be to their hard toil and careful planning.

“But I’m ready this year. I’ve even been practicing in front of the mirror, and I did some role play the other day at work with a fellow dad. So bring it on I reckon, I’m prepared for anything. Even if I get a soap on a rope I’ll still put in a big performance, like that dad in the TV ad who gets a gift card to Supercheap Auto. I’m gunna smash it out of the park!”
