A Watsonia man has been struck with a minor crisis after realising he never knows what to say when someone knocks on a toilet door that he is currently hiding behind whilst pooing. On Sunday, Rick Taylor was defecating during a birthday BBQ for his mum at his parents’ house when a fateful knock came on the door. Rick felt safe in the knowledge that the toilet door was locked, but then an awkward silence followed as the person outside continued to jiggle the door handle aggressively while Rick sat on the toilet, pants around his ankles, trying to come up with an appropriate verbal response to the attempted entry.

Rick eventually opted for a hurried “Sorry mate!” as he attempted to expedite his bowel movement. Despite his forced haste, Rick also didn’t want to exit the toilet too quickly in case attendees at the party, in particular the door handle jiggler, would know it was him in the toilet.

It wasn’t until later in the day, while reflecting on the uncomfortable incident, that Rick realised he’d spent his whole life struggling to formulate a response that met the needs of both him and the person outside the toilet. Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, he said, “I never realised that I had a problem, but it hit me like a ton of bricks on Sunday night. I’ve spent my whole life not knowing what to do when this happens, but hopefully acceptance is the first step towards recovery.”
