A local woman has taken issue with Karl Lagerfeld’s infamous comment about tracksuit pants and how they are a symbol of someone losing control of their life. In an acerbic Facebook post, Greensborough woman Rebecca Hudson took aim at Lagerfeld’s comment and, in doing so, launched a staunch defence of the humble tracksuit pant.

While Lagerfeld made his comment a few years ago, Wilson has put it back on the agenda with her post going viral overnight, as fellow tracksuit pant lovers liked and shared her post for all to see. The full quote from Lagerfeld reads: “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants.”

In response, Hudson posted, “This Karl bloke doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Tracksuit pants are one of life’s great inventions. They should be celebrated, not ridiculed. There are few better feelings in life than getting home after a long day at the office and slipping into a well-worn, comfortable pair of trakkies. They are a fashion staple in my household, a place where jeans are only worn on very special occasions.”

Hudson then went a bit more personal, adding “Karl you stupid old man, there’s more to life than carefully posing on the red carpet and spending hours at the solarium. You want to talk about ‘losing control’? How about you going on record a few years ago to say that, if it was legal, you would’ve married your pet cat. If that’s not losing control of your life, then I simply do not know what is. That’s a true sign of defeat. Better go shopping for some trakkies champ!”

Judging by the comments on Hudson’s post supporting her brave stance, it sounds like Karl better not show his face around Greensy Plaza for a while.
