The definition of masochism is to derive enjoyment from pain or discomfort. Therefore, the act of farting in the shower can fairly be argued to be the height of masochism.

Farting in the shower is an extremely intense experience, where the resulting aroma is amplified and accelerated by the killer combination of close confines and rising steam. It’s arguably more dangerous than farting when a towel is wrapped around your waist.

According to local behavioural psychologist David Hudson, he’s never seen a more pure example of masochism in his professional life. He said, “It’s a fascinating case study. A person who repeatedly passes wind in the shower has a whole suite of issues that require further assessment. While enjoying the smell of your own farts is a relatively acceptable phenomenon, sampling the smell in the intensified environment of a running shower is pure masochism.”
