A study out of a local university has suggested that people who use a double space after a full stop are dirty rotten psychopaths. While that finding may sound extreme, researchers behind the study are standing by their conclusion, even claiming that the habit is costing professional editors thousands of hours each year in lost time.
Lead researcher for the study, Fraser O’Connor has told The Watsonia Bugle, “It’s just a nightmare really. I mean surely these people are aware of what they are doing. They are literally costing the workforce hours of time that could be better used attending to their, there and they’re problems.”
While the issue could, arguably, be quickly eradicated with a simple find and replace, O’Connor believes that is still a major imposition. And the fact that the habit is a carry over from the typewriter era has led O’Connor to claim that the perpetrators are either, “Change resistant luddites or, at the very worst, dirty rotten psychopaths”.
