Following over 12 months of negative publicity surrounding her behaviour and attitude, Peppa Pig has broken her silence for the first time and spoken out in defence of her actions. In an exclusive interview with The Watsonia Bugle, Peppa risks numerous clauses of her lucrative acting contract in an attempt to silence her growing army of detractors.

Of the heavy criticism she has received over being a poor role model for young children, Peppa said, “Are you trying to tell me that I’m not just exhibiting the same behaviours your beloved children already do? So it’s really a chicken or the egg kind of thing isn’t it. It’s a bit of a cop out to blame all your child’s failings on me. A fake 2D animated pig.”

When asked about the personal toll the groundswell of abuse and accusations had taken on her, Peppa said, “People forget I’m just a juvenile pig myself, trying to make my way in the world. How would they have liked having cameras following their every move during their childhood? Especially when I’ve got such an annoying family. If my parents could have more of an outdated understanding of gender roles in a modern society I’d spew up.”
