Watsonia is currently sitting under a shroud of confusion as pedestrians and cyclists alike struggle to understand what signage on the train station overpass is actually trying to tell them. While the smart money would be on the sign saying that cyclists are not allowed to ride their bike across the bridge, some pedants are saying that the double negative on the sign kind of almost suggests that cyclists are encouraged to ride across the pedestrian-heavy overpass.

Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, one such pedant said, “Surely just the bike with the big red line through it is enough to deter cyclists from riding across the bridge. Why do they insist on adding the big ‘NO’ to it as well?”

Council was unavailable for comment on the logic behind the sign design.
