While official details are yet to be revealed, eagle-eye dog walkers have spotted early construction of what appears to be a poolside bar that is tipped to be opening in Greensborough just in time for the upcoming summer. Despite council officials remaining tight-lipped, images provided to The Watsonia Bugle this week seem to indicate that the bar will leverage the tranquil beauty of the Plenty River and its many natural resources.

As seen in the image above, comfortable lounge seating will be submerged in the cool waters of the Plenty River, with further plans suggested for a wet bar, food truck parking, and a DJ platform carved into the nearby bank — ensuring that phat beats can keep the revellers entertained all day and night. Modelled on the wildly successful pool bars in Las Vegas, such as Wet Republic at the MGM Grand, the new bar will allow patrons to frolic in the water whilst enjoying cocktails and other alcoholic beverages.

Public opinion has been divided by the plans, with many local residents expressing their concern about noise and drunken antics in their usually quiet and peaceful slice of Greensborough. One local, who gave her name only as Doris, told The Watsonia Bugle, “I don’t think that’s a very good idea. Can you imagine the drunken hooligans it will attract? Not to mention the noise. Plus I don’t want to be stepping over puddles of vomit every morning when I take my dog for a walk along the river.”
