A local woman has reportedly violently dry retched after seeing an image of exactly how kombucha is actually made. Kim Morgan was having a casual lunch room chat with one of her colleagues yesterday when she was told, in full detail, of the fermenting process used to create the health drink currently taking Australia by storm.

Morgan was seemingly unaware that kombucha was created by fermenting tea with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast known as “SCOBY”. When her colleague Googled an image of the process and showed it to Morgan, she immediately dry retched, before running to the bathroom to make sure that her physical reaction didn’t produce something more substantial.

Speaking to The Watsonia Bugle after that confronting lunch room conversation, Morgan said, “I honestly had no idea. I just heard it was kind of like tea and that it was good for me. So, I just blindly started drinking it. They literally have that stuff on tap at some places in the city. But I don’t think I’ll be trying it again any time soon.”
