Following actress Natalie Portman’s visit to Melbourne Football Club training yesterday, a Greensborough man has suggested that she would’ve been more suited to supporting Collingwood. Dean Somerville claims that Portman’s role of Padmé Amidala — and mother of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia — in the Star Wars franchise makes her the perfect candidate for being a Collingwood supporter.

Sharing his theory with The Watsonia Bugle, Somerville said, “Yeah mate, for sure. I mean, look at the facts. In Star Wars, she was the mother of two siblings who basically made out with each other on screen. That’s classic white trash Magpie behaviour. And that’s before you even consider the fact that her husband was a bit of a jerk, and prone to occasional outbursts of uncontrollable anger. Ever sat near the Collingwood cheer squad during a game? I rest my case.”

Regardless of her suitability for being a Collingwood supporter, based purely on characters she has played in movies, Somerville is surprised the Magpies didn’t stick their claws into her earlier. He said, “I tell you what, they’d be absolutely spewing they missed out on getting her down to the Holden Centre. It was a real coup by the Demons. I mean, she was literally just a decent torpie from the Magpies training centre. So close, yet so far.”
