A local footy fan claims he’s more interested in how to order a taxi inside an AFL venue than he is about an issues surrounding player welfare. Watsonia man Daniel Winston dismissed the footy community’s criticism of injured Essendon player Matt Guelfi’s chosen mode of transport, instead asking if the new transport option would be made available to the fans this season.

News swirled earlier today about the fact that Guelfi had been taken to a Perth hospital in a taxi instead of an ambulance after sustaining an injury during last night’s game against West Coast at Optus Stadium. And the story continued to spread even though Essendon coach John Worsfold gave a more than reasonable explanation for the choice of vehicle.

Speaking to The Watsonia Bugle this afternoon, Winston said, “Ever tried to hail a cab outside the MCG after a game? Mate, it’s almost impossible. How on earth did the Bombers manage to call one into the actual ground? That’s amazing. I want in.”
