It’s official: any remaining positive sentiment amongst opposition supporters for Richmond’s 2017 premiership has evaporated, with fans of rival clubs now genuinely considering whether to cheer for GWS during this Saturday’s Grand Final. Footy fans across the country are now weighing up which side is the lesser of two evils – the AFL’s at-times arrogant western Sydney lovechild, or the increasingly boisterous Tigers.
Watsonia’s very own Helen Plumpton said, “It’s a tough decision. Two years ago I was kind of happy for the Tigers supporters, I really was. But that extra swagger they’ve had since then is wearing a bit thin. I’m leaning towards jumping on the Giants bandwagon.”
Meanwhile, local Tigers supporter Grant Brandon said, “The Giants? Turn it up mate. They’ve been handed everything on a silver platter. It’s not like we’ve ever benefited from high draft picks and poaching star players from other clubs. Yellow and black.”
