A Watsonia man has fainted in a local supermarket after discovering actual price of a weekend newspaper these days. Marcus Pollard said he was so shocked by the recommended retail price that all he remembers is going weak at the knees before waking up on the floor.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle about his ordeal, Pollard said, “I was genuinely shocked. I mean, I probably haven’t bought a newspaper for a few years now, but I can’t remember it being even close to that price. It literally floored me.”
Despite suffering slightly bruised pride, Pollard said he recovered fairly quickly from his fall, and reluctantly paid for his surprisingly expensive item before quickly exiting the store. Upon getting home and having a flick through the offending publication, he remained skeptical that it was worth the price. He said, “There wasn’t much to it, let’s be honest. I mean, I like the nostalgia of flicking through a paper on the weekend, but if I wanted yesterday’s news, I would’ve spoken to my grandmother.”
