A local Essendon fan has claimed that he knew “Hird Immunity” would never work in the ongoing fight against COVID-19. Jordan O’Brien said that his personal experience of watching his club battle through the so-called supplements saga a few years ago had taught him that there was no such thing as “Hird Immunity”.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, O’Brien said, “Yeah mate, I thought Hirdy would be immune from all that supplements business a few years ago, I mean, I saw them emails where he said he didn’t want them to do anything illegal. But look how that turned out. So I could’ve told you months ago that ‘Hird Immunity’ wasn’t the way to go.”
While Australia never actually adopted to the controversial herd immunity approach to tackling COVID-19, management methods have come into question in the wake of Victoria’s current second wave of infections. O’Brien said, “As they say, sport is a microcosm of life. They also say that if we fail to learn from the past we’re destined to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Any Bombers fan worth their salt would tell you that ‘Hird Immunity’ isn’t a thing.”
