A recent survey of Australian motorists has revealed what they consider to be the most pointless and unenforceable road sign in our fair nation. The survey polled over 15,000 motorists across the country, and an overwhelming 93% of them said that the “Local Traffic Only” sign basically isn’t worth the metal it is printed on.

The majority of motorists polled questioned whether the sign was actually legally enforceable, or just a gentle whisper in the ear of people using back streets to avoid congested arterials. One survey participant, Tim, said “it’s such a bloody toothless tiger, I mean can they actually book ya for it?”

Another respondent, Maria, said “it’s very ambiguous. I mean what context is ‘local’ used in anyway? Technically me driving down that road means I’m local to it, so the sign is a real waste of time.”
