Questions are currently being asked about where Watsonia gets its water supply from, after the suburb was oddly excluded from a water quality warning that was issued this morning and impacted every one of our neighbouring suburbs. The warning, released by Yarra Valley Water, stated that due to storm-related power outages last night, the water supply to 88 Melbourne suburbs had been compromised, advising residents of those suburbs to boil their tap water before consuming it.
The suburbs listed included Bundoora, Eltham, Greensborough, Lower Plenty, Montmorency, Mill Park, Plenty, Research and Yarrambat, but oddly excluded Watsonia and Macleod. The anomaly has sparked questions across the Diamond Valley today, as locals attempt to identify the true source of Watsonia’s water supply, and why it operates exclusively from our surrounding suburbs.
Long-time Watsonia resident Stephanie Prendergast contacted The Watsonia Bugle this morning to speculate about our seemingly exclusive water source. She said, “I’ve always told people that the water tastes better in Watsonia, but I thought that was all just in my mind. Maybe I was actually onto something? This is all very intriguing. I mean, why were we not impacted by this contamination? Where is our water coming from?”
