A local man claims he’s pretty sure that The Man from Snowy River is the greatest movie of all time, after spending a big chunk of this year re-watching films from the bygone era. Lester Young has signed up to multiple streaming services during 2020’s COVID-enforced lockdown, reportedly watching up to 10 movies a week.

Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Young said, “When you think about it, The Man from Snowy River has it all: quality cinematography, a rollicking boy-meets-girl, good old-fashioned Aussie mateship, a triumph against the odds, a coming of age story, and horses jumping over stuff. It’s bloody awesome. Seriously, name a better flick. I’m listening.”

Despite Young’s glowing recommendation, local film critic Kyle Stephenson was not convinced. Stephenson said, “Greatest movie of all time? Please. It’s not even the best horse-related Australian film of all time. That was The Silver Brumby. Rusty Crowe was incredible in that film.”
