Multiple Watsonia North residents have admitted to recently double-checking the definition of “mid-year”, as they continue their long wait for Binnak Park to reopen. Signage around the oval redevelopment has been promising mid-year completion for over six months now, with locals banking in the imminent return.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, local resident Joel Graham conceded that he was starting to grow impatient. Graham said, “Well, mid-year to me should be either today or tomorrow. And I’ve had that time locked into my head for a long time now. The oval itself has looked pristine for months, I just want to get out there and on it. The time has come.”
Meanwhile, an anonymous local project manager suggested that “mid-year” could technically stretch all the way to the beginning of August. They said, “What do you think we are? Stupid? Of course, we be deliberately ambiguous about this kind of stuff. And even then, we have a few aces up our sleeve to explain delays. You know, the weather, COVID lockdowns, and asbestos. We always pretend to be surprised by the discovery of asbestos, even when we know pretty much anything built before 1990 contained a heap of it.”
