A local man’s otherwsie polite offer to run a Zoom trivia night tonight has been firmly rebutted by his friendship group. Trent Oliver was looking for something to do during lockdown, so started a group message this morning to gauge interest in his innovative idea.

However, my midday he had received half a dozen firm replies of ‘No’, while the remaining friends are currently refusing to return his calls. Speaking to The Watsonia Bugle about this confronting rejection, Oliver said, “I just don’t get it, man. Everyone was into this in the first couple of lockdowns, so I thought it would be a good idea to go again. What else am I going to do on a Saturday night? Watch St Kilda versus Port? No thanks.”

While Oliver remained confused by the rejection, an anonymous friend separately contacted The Watsonia Bugle to explain their position. They said, “Look, I appreciate the offer, I really do. But there’s just something about those social Zoom chats. The bring back too many dark memories from Lockdown 2.0. You know, when we were stuck in our homes for months on end. That was a disaster, and the less I have to remind me of it, the better.”
