A local father has privately wondered whether he’s good enough to be awarded the prestigious “Dad of the Year” award this year, despite having held the title for the last eight consecutive years. Marcus Danielson claims he’s no guarantee to receive the award this year, claiming that his “dad form” has been lackluster at times, and his kids seem to be less forthcoming with praise.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Danielson said, “I’ve always been a bit dubious of the title in the past. I mean, sure, I’ve seen multiple ‘World’s Best Dad’ mugs on the shelf at the local supermarket, but I always like to think that, at the very least, my kids believe it to be true. But over the last 12 months, there’s been some rumblings behind the scenes. I’m definitely not a lock this year.”
While Danielson refused to elaborate on too many specifics, he did acknowledge that after eight full years of going to the park with children, his enthusiasm for pushing them on the swing had waned significantly. He said, “When my first child was born, I was running around the Binnak Park playground with just as much pizazz as he was. But eight years is a long time, and I’m not getting any younger.”
