A local man in his late-30s is still hanging onto his graphic calculator despite not having used it since being a Year 12 student over 20 years ago. Adam Price claims that he is hanging onto the now superseded piece of technology due to constant comments from his parents at the time of purchase.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Price said, “When they bought it for me, Mum and Dad just never stopped talking about how expensive it was. I got the genuine feeling that they’d be more upset if I lost my calculator than if I actually went missing one night on the way home from school. They insisted that wasn’t the case, but I could read between the lines.”
When asked whether he could foresee a moment in the future where he would actually use the calculator, Price said, “To be honest, I doubt it. You know you can turn your iPhone calculator to be horizontal and it pretty much has all the features of a top of the line Texas Instrument. But no matter how much I think about it, I just can’t physically put that thing in the bin.”
