If we’re to believe social media, which we always do, a little Auskick kid telling Jack Riewoldt he’s a legend is actually more impressive than anything a Richmond player achieved yesterday. In the competitive online world of finding the story within the story, we’re often lured into some benign click bait rubbish, and this story about the medal presentation was the perfect example.

Richmond broke a 36-year premiership drought by knocking off Grand Final favourites Adelaide, and this happened after the Tigers had finished 13th on the ladder last year. But according to some pundits, a little kid calling a professional athlete a legend became the real winner of the day.

Social media lit up last night with suggestions that the kid had “won the Grand Final” with his comment, despite the fact he went home empty handed after presenting the medal to Riewoldt. But, you know, it was the most impressive story within the story, so we hope you enjoyed seeing it all over your newsfeed last night and this morning.
