A local dad has spent much of the Christmas to New Year period brushing up on his skateboarding skills in preparation for the Pop Up Skate Park due to open in Watsonia this Sunday. The pop up site, situated on Ibbottson Street near the library, opens on Sunday and will remain until late January, aimed mostly at providing somewhere fun and safe for kids to gather during the school holidays.

However, 36-year-old Tristan Todd has other ideas, preparing to show off his long-dormant skateboarding skills to his two young daughters. Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Todd said, “Yeah man, it’s been a while, but when I heard about this little pop up park it was too good an opportunity to resist. Back in the day I could drop into the bowl, kick flip, rip a 180, and flirt with like heaps of chicks around the wider Greensy area.”

Spending most of his Christmas holidays “on his deck”, Todd reckons he’s ready to take Watsonia by storm. He said, “I’ve been on holidays man, so I’ve been skating flat out for over a week. I can’t wait for Sunday, it’s gunna be gnarly. My kids will see a whole new side of their Dad, it’ll be hard for them to not be impressed by my moves. I’ll be the cool dad that I’ve always wanted to be!”
