A Fairfield resident is reportedly looking forward to a whole suburb worth of people moving into what is essentially a two-block radius on the former site of the paper mills. Janet Laycock has been looking forward to welcoming her new neighbours and thinks it will bring an added zest to her local area.

Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Laycock said, “I just think it’s going to be great. All those extra people using our roads, cafes and public transport. It will be wonderful. I mean, they’re adding an extra bridge at Chandler Highway so we’ll totally be ready to cater for all these extra residents.”

While not all of Laycock’s neighbours share her generous enthusiasm, she is adamant that the new estate will only bring good things. She said, “Imagine the possibilities, maybe my new best friend will move into that estate and it will really add something to my life.”
