As hit television series The Simpsons approaches its record breaking 636th episode this weekend, a local man has expressed his surprise to hear that the show is still creating new material. While Dave McPherson describes himself as “a big Simmos” fan, he conceded that he hadn’t seen a new episode in years, and was just getting his fix by following multiple Simpsons-themed social media accounts.
When the 636 episode of The Simpsons airs this weekend it will see the series take the mantle as the longest running prime-time scripted show in television history – surpassing the relatively unknown series Gunsmoke. According to McPherson, “I thought they stopped making new stuff a few years ago? I almost choked on me Weet-Bix when I read it this morning at breakfast. That show’s a bloody pisser, I might have to get back into it.”
