A Nicholas Cage portrait is currently hanging on the wall of a prominent Doncaster cinema without even a hint of irony attached to its glorious presence. While Cage has become the focus of occasional scorn and ridicule on social media in recent years, the interior decorators at the cinema seem to have not been listening, giving Con Air’s lead character the top billing on an avenue of portraits that includes such cinematic luminaries as Jack Nicholson, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise.

One movie goes noticed the honour and told The Watsonia Bugle, “Who would’ve thought eh? Old Cameron Poe up there for all to see. It’s a thing of beauty, quite remarkable. It’s good to see one of our generation’s finest actors being recognised in such a public way, instead of just being potted on social media by a bunch of keyboard warriors.”
