A local influencer has been severely frightened by this afternoon’s Instagram outage, telling close friends that the tech error has sparked a full-blown existential crisis. Tayla Fleming, who posts regular shots of herself in bikinis on the popular photo sharing network, has reportedly been so spooked by the temporary absence of Instagram that she is now considering getting a real job.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle on the strict condition of anonymity, one of Fleming’s “close friends” said, “She went into a full meltdown. I mean, I guess she would’ve occasionally wondered what would happen to her if Insta didn’t exist, but this afternoon really gave her an unwanted glimpse into that sad and lonely existence.”
While Fleming herself would not return any of our calls, another friend contacted us and said, “I bet she wasn’t the only one. I mean, one day we all thought she’d realise that getting the occasional free bikini or pair of pyjamas wasn’t going to sustain her forever, and maybe today was that day. It’s like that old saying, you know. If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it does it still make a sound? Except in her case it’s more like if you’re looking hot in your bikini in the middle of a Melbourne winter but you can’t find the right filter to make it look warmer are you really looking hot or not? Tayla has some thinking to do now. Poor thing.”
