A local dad is continuing to refer to Phillip Island as “overseas” despite frequent requests from his children to stop. Despite having used the technicality for almost a decade now, Toby Walter is showing no sign of using a different line to garner a few cheap laughs.

Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Toby’s wife Helen said, “When he first started using it, we all laughed a bit because it was kind of funny. Plus the kids were heaps younger then too, so they were a much cheaper laugh. But now, almost 10 years on, we’ve all had enough of it. The kids get so embarrassed, especially when he keeps saying it in front of their friends and giggles after he says it.”

When contacted for his side of the story, Toby initially refused to be drawn into the matter, before eventually saying, “It’s just funny but. I mean, you go over a sea to get there. I know it’s on a bridge but it still counts. That gag has gotten me plenty of laughs over the years, and it’s still got a good 10-15 years left in it I reckon.”
