The local Essendon supporter that had been camped outside the MCG in optimistic preparation to secure Grand Final tickets has reportedly abandoned his post after yesterday’s shattering loss to Greater Western Sydney. As reported in October last year, Bombers fan Cameron Davey had been lined up for 2019 Grand Final tickets since Dylan Shiel signed with Essendon, referring to boom recruit as, “the final piece in our premiership puzzle”.

In fact, we also reported that Davey had been joined by additional Bombers supporters a couple of weeks when NBA star Ben Simmons cryptically tweeted about possibly joining Essendon for a season.

However, in the wake of yesterday’s listless performance against GWS, Davey is nowhere to be seen this morning, with the concourse around the MCG being suspiciously quiet. While Davey is yet to return any of our calls today, friends of his claim that the one-eyed Bombers fan was livid after yesterday’s loss, and had returned to participating in normal society.

Speaking to The Watsonia Bugle, one friend said, “Cam lost the plot yesterday. He was watching the game on his phone from his MCG campsite, but by three quarter time he was packing up his belongings and preparing to head home. It’s a shame really. I mean, he’d lasted over five months, so it’s odd that he just packed it all in at the first sign of trouble.”
