Local bogans have taken to social media to pay their respects to 45,000 barrels of Jim Beam bourbon that were tragically torched in Kentucky, USA. The online tribute, initiated by Watsonia bourbon enthusiast Callum Bowen, encourages people to leave a can of Jim Beam at their front door, take a photo, and post it to social media using the hashtag #PutYourJimBeamsOut.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle about his touching tribute, Bowen said, “Oh yeah mate, like a lot of people, I was bloody shattered when I saw all them barrels go up in flames. Absolute tragedy if you ask me. So, this is the least I could do, really. This way bourbon drinkers from all over the world can grieve together. We’re also encouraging people to have a few cans tonight, and support the business that has given us so much over the years.”
Thankfully, an official statement from Jim Beam confirmed that supplies of the beloved spirit would not be impacted by the tragic fire, with a spokesperson explaining that just two of 126 barrel warehouses in the state of Kentucky had been damaged.
