A public transport enthusiast has highlighted an odd similarity between Shapes boxes and designs on our buses, trains and trams, and it’s been sitting right under our noses for years. While discussion on social media centres around who copied whom, most local commuters are just wondering how and why they didn’t notice this connection earlier.

As seen below, an image posted on Twitter by @danielbowen has laid bare just how closely our various trams, trains and buses resemble different flavours of Arnott’s Shapes.

To be honest, as regular reporters on important issues regarding our beloved Shapes, we’re kind of disappointed that we didn’t notice the similarity either. However, we don’t feel quite as passionately as local commuter Brian Marsden who told The Watsonia Bugle, “I love me Shapes, mate. I really do. And I commute into the city every day for work, often while wrist-deep in a box of Shapes. So, it’s just been staring me in the face all this time. I’m such a doofus, how did I not make the connection?”
