New employee greeted on second morning with “Oh, you came back, haha”

A new employee at an inner-city office has been greeted on his second morning with an “Oh, you came back, haha”. Having successfully completed his first day at the new workplace yesterday, Darren Leonard reported for duty this morning, only to be met with the odd comment from his immediate supervisor when he arrived at his desk ready to learn.

Speaking to The Watsonia Bugle about the incident, Leonard said, “It’s was strange, I mean, I guess I’ve heard the same line used in just about every place I’ve ever worked, but I thought things would be different in 2019. Surely it’s time to ditch that incredibly awkward quirk of small talk. I think humanity needs to move on.”

Meanwhile, the co-worker responsible for the remark has moved swiftly to defend her actions. She said, “I didn’t mean any harm by it. I was just trying to break the ice. It’s always a bit weird when you start working at a new place, so I just wanted Darren to see the funny side of my personality. Judging by his response, my comments had the complete opposite result. I regret my actions.”
