A local man that frequently claims he was “born ready” wasn’t actually born ready, according to his mother. While Darren Finlayson likes to use his catch phrase in a variety of settings, his mother Karen exclusively revealed to The Watsonia Bugle that when he was born he was “pretty much useless for the first 15 years of his life, maybe longer.”

Karen also said, “He loves saying ‘I was born ready’ whenever people ask him if he’s ready. But, honestly, that just was not the case. In the first year or so he was like any baby: high needs, pretty much useless, just pooing his nappy, crying, dribbling, the works, you know. Darren was definitely not born ready.”

When contacted for his response, Darren said, “Look mate, I’m not ready to talk about this right now. It’s all a bit raw. That catch phrase is a part of me. I’m known for it. Without that, I’m kind of nothing. I’m working through a very serious period of introspection at the moment. I need time.”
