A local sweet tooth has quoted one of the most beloved world leaders in recent history in an odd attempt to explain why he cuts empty custard cartons open to lick the insides. Dave Tindle, of Eltham, drew the desperate comparison after his wife discovered him in the kitchen feasting on the insides of a custard carton like a man who had been stranded in the desert for three months without food or water.

Explaining himself to his wife, Tindle reportedly said, “It’s the challenge that makes it taste even better. Remember what JFK said, ‘We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organise and measure the best of our energies and skills’. In modern terms that basically means that while the struggle is real, it is totes worth it.”

When his wife asking him if he’d just compared landing on the moon with devouring the inside of a custard carton, Tindle said, “Well, not exactly Darl. I was just using that as an analogy.”
