A local bottle shop has been encouraged to commission a timely piece of street art that promotes increased beer consumption during lockdown 2.0. The push follows the recent emergence of a Dan Andrews caricature on the external wall of a Moonee Ponds bottle shop, serving the dual purpose of providing light entertainment and spruiking the soothing embrace of alcohol during Lockdown 2.0.
Watsonia beer enthusiasts are now suggesting that the Liquorland in the heart of our CBD commissions a local artist to produce a similar work of art. One such lover of both amber fluid and artistic culture contacted The Watsonia Bugle to suggest the addition to our region’s fine tradition of street art. Under the strict condition of anonymity, they said, “Yeah mate, that’d be sick as. I full pissed meself that first time I watched the Dan Andrews ‘Get on the Beers’ remix that some funny bugger chucked on Facebook. And, I’ll be honest, I’ve revisited that clip more than a few times over the last month or so. If we could get a permanent reminder of that on a wall in Watsy that would be so rad. A real pisser.”
While the anonymous beer lover conceded that they hadn’t contacted the store directly to put forward their marketing suggestion, they were hoping to see something emblazoned on the wall at some stage over the weekend. They said, “Well, I mean, it’s in the Bugle now yeah? That should do it for now right? Can you call them and ask, or something?”
