The iconic baby blue “Batmobile” that Angry Anderson rode as part of the entertainment for the 1991 AFL Grand Final is up for sale, and you are encouraged to run to eBay, not walk, if you want to get the keys to this truly unique piece of sporting memorabilia. The Rose Tattoo lead singer immortalised this OTT automobile back in 1991 when he shared a ride with marathon legend Robert de Castella in the middle of Waverley Park before launching into a rousing rendition of the anthemic “Bound for Glory” in an attempt to inspire our Olympic athletes to glory the following year.

Legend has it that, because de Castella also referenced Sydney’s pending bid to host the 2000 Olympics, Anderson’s passionate delivery helped sway the IOC to choose Australia to host the games close to a decade after the iconic performance. Regardless of the true reach of that “Bound for Glory” rendition, Anderson’s appearance on the back of that pimped out vehicle has been etched into the memory of footy fans and hard working Australians alike.

And now it can be yours. Bidding is still open, but will close soon, so head over to eBay and put your money where your mouth is.
