A professional house painter has confirmed the long-held suspicion that the worst part about painting is the setting up and packing up. Darren Clemmens made the stark admission earlier this week, following decades of anecdotal evidence from amateur DIYers.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Clemmens said, “Yeah mate, absolutely. It’s the worst. And I should know… I have to set up and pack up every bloody day! I’ve been working as a painter for about 15 years now, and I can promise it doesn’t get any easier with time. It’s still a nightmare.”
However, Clemmens also claimed that the frustrating necessity of setting up and packing up had provided him with plenty of work over the years. He said, “It’s a double-edged sword, mate. I hate doing it, but it’s probably responsible for providing me with about 80% of my work each year. Most people try doing their own painting, but give up after the first room, call a professional like me, and the rest is history.”
