A local Melbourne Demons fan said he’s taken the lid off a nice piece of Camembert cheese in preparation for his football team’s Qualifying Final against the Brisbane Lions this Saturday night. Having already made news earlier in the year for daydreaming about cheese platters on his lap in the September sun at the MCG, Cameron McAllister-Daniels said while he’s disappointed he can’t be there in person for this weekend’s big clash, he’s making the most of the week.

Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, McAllister-Daniels said, “Football is a funny game, and I’ve been through the highs and lows over the years, so it’s important to celebrate the small victories along the way. We’re minor premiers you know and, in Europe, that would be cause for much celebration. In fact, that would mean we’re premiers, full stop. So, I’m calling this week the ‘European Premiership’, and I’m celebrating accordingly.”

While he conceded that he was yet to finalise the cheeseboard lineup for this Saturday night, McAllister-Daniels said he’s pretty close making those decisions. He said, “Oh yes, I’m a bit like Goody this week, haha, lots of big decisions at the selection table. I actually purchased one of those whiteboards online and have been moving the magnets around all week. It’s all about finding the perfect balance, and making sure that all the ingredients complement one another. It will be a real treat. Anyway, I must go, cheerio!”
