A Watsonia man says he’s genuinely not sure where his Myki card is right now, having barely used public transport for over 18 months now. Nick Maleny used to catch the train to work on Monday to Friday, and then occasionally used the train to go to the footy on the weekends, but says he’s pretty sure he’s only caught it once since March last year due to the global COVID pandemic.

Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Maleny said, “Yeah, it’s been a while, haha. I used to never leave home without me Myki, but now I honestly don’t know where it is. I barely even take me wallet out of the house now. Things have changed.”

When asked to speculate if he’d used Melbourne’s public transport system at all since early last year when he started working from home, Maleny said, “I’m not 100% sure, but I reckon I might’ve caught the train on the morning of the work Chrissie party back in early December. You know, so I could get on the piss and not have to worry about driving. But that’s it, I reckon. The single one-way trip in over 18 months.”
