A pair of exasperated local parents have gone earlier than usual on threatening their children of a potential Santa boycott this Christmas, claiming that the seasonal discipline measure was literally the last thing left in their parenting kit bag. Rebecca and Nathan Jamieson said that while they understood that the tactic was best used in November and December each year, sometimes you just have to go with what you have.
Speaking exclusively to The Watsonia Bugle, Rebecca said, “Look, it’s been a tough year and, to be totally honest, I’ve run out of threats. If I need to threaten a Santa boycott this far out from Christmas I will. Try and stop me.”
Unfortunately, the couple also claimed that the earlier application of the method had brought forward the start date of the present request process from their children, and created unrealistic expectations about just how soon the festive was would be. Nathan said, “Kids have no real concept of time, so it’s been a bit of a nightmare. Every morning this week, our three-year-old has come into our room and asked if it’s Christmas yet. This is going be some kind of build up!”
