A Royal Commission is reportedly being launched into the general health and wellbeing of Watsonians following news that another pharmacy will soon be opening on the main strip. Rumours have been swirling about movement at the old deli next to Professor’s Pizza, with tradies coming and going intermittently for about the last 12 months.
And now Chemist Warehouse is advertising for staff at a new store in Watsonia, so we’re pretty sure it’s happening, but with two pharmacies already in operation on Watsonia Road, locals are concerned that the glut of drug sellers points to a great problem in the health of people living in Watsonia. In response to these concerns, local politicians are pitching for a Royal Commission to be held on the matter, with hopes that the investigation will uncover any underlying issues is the area.
One Canberra insider told The Watsonia Bugle, “Yeah mate, it’s a bit odd. I mean how many chemist shops do you guys really need? Is two not enough? I know you had three not that long ago, but surely the reduction to just two was not adequate. Canberra’s in no habit of throwing money after fanciful projects, so I reckon they’ll see the validity in this investigation. The people of Watsonia deserve nothing less.”
