A local man has claimed that he genuinely misses the days of the abandoned oBikes being strewn all over Melbourne. Caleb Matthews of Watsonia believes that the haphazard abandonment of hired bikes all over the city was “just the kind of capitalist absurdity that we need in these increasingly troubled times”.

In an exclusive interview with The Watsonia Bugle, Matthews mused that society always needs something to be outraged about, so it’s good when that outrage is directed at something that really isn’t that outrageous. He said, “When you think about it, the abandoned oBike era was a more uncomplicated period in our history. They were simpler times. We were horrified about what we felt was the pollution of our streets and waterways when, on a global scale, much much worse things are being done to our environment.”
