Global megastar Taylor Swift has reportedly refused to rule out a return visit to Watsonia when she’s in town in November to play two songs at the Melbourne Cup. In arguably one of the strangest attempts to encourage more people to attend an already-popular horse race, news broke earlier today that Swift has been booked to play at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November.
What makes it even stranger is that Swift won’t be in Australia for a tour at that time, so will be coming all this way just to play two songs to the Flemington faithful before heading. One can only assume that Swift is keen to return to Melbourne so she can spend a few days in her favourite Australian holiday destination: Watsonia. As reported exclusively in October last year, there were rumours that Swift had spent some down time in our lovely suburb during her large-scale Australian tour.
While initial calls to the star’s representatives have proved futile, an anonymous source claims that Swift is so enamoured with Watsonia that she would definitely be squeezing in a quick visit during her brief time in Australia. The source said, “I think she’ll definitely get to Watsy. She’s always talking about it, so it clearly made an impression. When you’re as big of a celebrity as she is, sometimes you just yearn for the simple life. Keep an eye out for her in early November.”
