A local dad can’t stop talking about the drainage at the new Binnak Park oval, repeatedly telling family members how impressed he was with how the playing surface recovered from last Friday’s heavy rain. Martin Harris says he’s been marvelling at the recently refurbished oval all week, and can’t wait to see how well it copes with this weekend’s forecasted rain.

Speaking to The Watsonia Bugle, Harris said, “It was just so remarkable, it deserves praise. I mean, it poured rain last Friday, like cats and dogs, but by Saturday arvo the Binnak surface was pristine. How do they do that? It’s amazing. My backyard is still a bit damp from last week’s rain!”

While conceding that he holds no formal qualifications in turf management or plumbing, Harris claimed he’s always held a casual interest in the varying states of local sporting grounds. He said, “It’s definitely a hobby of mine, I’m right into it. And I don’t really care whether the person I’m talking to about it is interested or not. At the end of the day, that’s on them. And even though I don’t possess any formal qualifications on this, I can categorically confirm that the new oval at Binnak Park is mint.”
