A local child has reportedly mistaken the large overhead powerlines in Watsonia for the Eiffel Tower, bringing yet another taste of Paris to our lovely suburb. Lauren Vincent said her 4-year-old son Taylor made the observation yesterday afternoon as she drove him down Watsonia Road, just past the preferred location of the Giant Dim Sim.
Speaking to The Watsonia Bugle about the amusing case of mistaken identity, Lauren said, “We were just driving along, and Taylor was asking his usual litany of questions when he stopped, gasped, and said ‘Mum, look. It’s the Eiffel Tower.’ I couldn’t stop laughing. I mean, the kid’s got a great imagination. I know Watsonia has a Paris End, but this was a bit of a stretch.”
When asked how her cultured young son knew about a world-famous monument that sits roughly 16,783 kilometres from Watsonia, Lauren said, “He probably saw it on Go Jetters or something like that. They’re always globetrotting and teaching worldly lessons. Good on them.”
